Auction Process

Our commercially proven Web-based auction tools create hyper competition in which bidders are incented to bid aggressively based on their individual positions. Customers and suppliers alike are able to extract the optimum clearing price for their individual needs at any given point in time.

Our Anglo-Dutch auction process involves three discrete stages:

Pre-auction
We hold a pre-auction call with the client to talk through current market conditions, contract terms, and how the process will work on the day of the auction. Our market intelligence, pricing expertise, and data analysis capabilities help to shape the go-to-market strategy, including timing and structure of the offering. Now, we are ready to help the customer compose the RFP and alert suppliers to the auction.

Auction
Only after a final phase of due diligence, which ensures that everything is in order for the event, do we hold the auction. During the auction, our market directors monitor all activity to ensure a smooth event. The customer can follow along with each bid and can be in constant contact with the market director to answer questions as the process unfolds.

Post-auction
Following the auction, we work with the customer, winning supplier, and any channel partners or consultants that may have been involved to complete contracting. Often this phase is completed within a couple of hours of the auction’s close. Rapid contracting is a key benefit for suppliers because it mitigates their price exposure between final bid and contract execution, which, with traditional methods can sometimes take weeks. This allows for lower risk premiums and more aggressive pricing.

The process concludes with our extensive contract and data management services, including storage of the contract, site set up, account definition, and data uploads, which provide access for monitoring usage and setting alert parameters. Throughout the balance of the term of the contract, the Exchange platform monitors usage and analyzes contract and facility performance, in effect, offering an entire back office energy portfolio management system to track everything they need to know about their energy contracts and usage - and at no extra cost.
